{Unified Universe Project}[Accidental Video]

[The PCD comes on, tilted at an odd angle. It shows several in a big office: Andrew Johnson, Donna Malkovich, Bao Ying, and Chairman Springsteen. There are others hanging around, but those are the four in the forefront.]

Andrew thumps his fist on the desk. “I will not go back! There’s too much to lose! Let them go back as they will, but—“

“Like we have any control over the Animus.” Donna’s voice is just as angry.

Bao shakes her head. “Can you not shield over the inner city? We can also invite in those who wish to stay, for a short time. I know you have been working on—“

“No.” The Chairman gets up from his chair and paces. “We’ve been trying to find a way, yes. But it hasn’t worked yet. We’re affected by the damned creatures the same as the Outsiders.”

“We will lose everything.” Andrew is seething. “And we still haven’t found—“

“No, we haven’t.” Donna cuts him off again. “But does it matter? If we can’t change something… Though now might be as good a time as any to see if we can hurt the Animus.”

Bao’s eyes go wide. “It will backfire. And again, me and mine will pay the price. Do not do this.”

The Chairman snorts. “That’s what you and yours are here for. If your predecessor hadn’t—“

“Do not even mention him.” Bao’s hand rests on her gun. “I know you’ve lied about him. They found his journal. It’s in the Outer City, not in the Waste. What else did you lie about, Springsteen? While you and your wife hide cozy in your house, drinking and isolated, safe from the damage you cause…”

Andrew has visibly calmed, and he places a hand on Bao’s shoulder. She glares at him but doesn’t shrug it off. “We’re not going to let him toss you to the Samaren Outsider. And now you don’t have to worry about him if we go back. One way or another, you’re safe.”

Bao looks away and doesn’t comment.

“Well. Now that that little temper tantrum is over.” Donna gives Bao a very wintery smile. “I would rather hurt and have repercussions than be sent home. I vote we use it.”

“Seconded.” The Chairman sits back down and looks over at Johnson.

“Against.” Andrew folds his arms.

“Against.” Bao’s hand hasn’t left her gun.

The Chairman glances off to the side, at Anderson Miles. “The deciding vote is yours.”

Miles frowns and swallows. “Against. We don’t know how much it will backfire, and it could hurt us more. If we go home, we can always fix our errors.”

“Cowards.” Springsteen glares at all except Donna. “Dismissed, then. We sit and wait, like the Outsiders have to, even when we have tools at our disposal. Enjoy—“

[The PCD times out.]

[[ooc: Mod decision - Upon use of the device, the five that volunteer get an impression of being swooped away and awareness of the Animus. The Animus cannot be seen, but there's a presence. And it is Not Amused, though it's a little surprised. Then there's a rush, and all five come back to themselves with MASSIVE headaches, horrible nausea, and dizziness. These five consist of: Squall/Leon, Nel Tu, Akito/Agito, Alucard, and Ulquiorra. Observers can join the log seperately: http://community.livejournal.com/adstrngndumlog/408051.html ]]

Wait! Who are you people? We have a choice not to go home?

...you have ways of trying to keep this from happening, and you aren't trying it?

I agree that hurting the Animus isn't a smart idea, but if you have other ways...!

[identity profile] hainyan.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want to go home!

So. Your weaknesses revealed as well as ours.

...If it counts for anything, if this can be stopped, if you can... at least try... you may find volunteers amongst us "outsiders" as well. Should the vote change.

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
So even when eavesdropping you get everything wrong?

We're the scientists. And no. We don't. Because some cowards don't want to see if we can hurt the Animus and convince them not to try this.

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I was outvoted on hurting them. As you could see.

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
You poor thing.

[voice]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
You'd be willing to try to hurt the Animus? You're all expendable. I don't think anyone would object to sending some of you out with the device.

[identity profile] iceandivory.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
...Even if you choose not to attack the animus, sitting and waiting is hardly the only other choice.

I understand, sir, and I would be one of the ones to vote against you, I'm sorry to say. But if you have alternate methods that don't involve potentially risking the lives of hundreds of people by angering the Animus, why aren't you using them?

[identity profile] 1soul3sides.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[man oh man the Nelliel isn't amused by you guys right now.]

You dangle that hope in front of people who have nothing, and whisk it away. Even if the Animus retaliate, there is no use in sitting by and doing nothing.

[She folds her arms.]

If none of you wish to take action, at least give the power to those of us who are willing.

I'm not looking your your pity Kaichou-sama, I just... don't want to die like that..

Well in that case I'm willing to do what you won't, or can't. Tell me what I need to do to accomplish what the cowards you refer to, won't do.

I'd rather go down fighting to try and change things. Not everyone is willing to go home, and if it can be altered in some small form, I'm willing to risk my life to do it.

scarysnakelady: (Does that make me crazy?)

[voice]

[personal profile] scarysnakelady 2010-01-22 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Not without help, knowledge, or resources--all of which you all seem to posses. Otherwise, it's just a suicide mission, and I don't so much like those.

But the vote went against you. You're willing to undermine the rest of your team?

No point in asking our opinion then, was there?

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Really.

We don't know if it will work. But if you're volunteering I have no problem using you.

Let me get it out of the Inner City, and I'll give you coordinates. You and whomever else want to try.

[[ooc: There will be side effects to using it, if anyone goes for this. They just got decided - severe migrane with the works. But the option is there. Until Siren gets on, there's no way to know if it will do a thing to the Animus.]]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Because we don't.

Comprehension is an important skill. Train it.

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Good, because I don't really pity you or care.

[voice]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the Chairman. What I say goes. And if it doesn't risk their precious skins, why would I be voted against anymore?

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
And in all your years of wisdom, you have other methods which you'll now share?

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Why do I care about giving you hope? Our meetings aren't supposed to be public.

You want it? I can give the device to you and the others. I'll never have a problem using any of you.
exarmatio: (Default)

[personal profile] exarmatio 2010-01-22 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
...but you said 'tools'...

So...hurting the Animus is really the only way, and you aren't even sure that your method will work.

What does this method entail?

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
When have I ever cared what your opinion was?

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
So sorry my language wasn't precise.

At least five people pushing a button each, spread out. And seeing what happens.

[identity profile] 1soul3sides.livejournal.com 2010-01-22 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Accident or not, the idea is there.

[Pointedly ignoring the "being used" comment.]

I am willing. It is better then sitting by and letting the Animus wreck lives.
