I find it quite the interesting thing, and rather beautiful. A pity that to some it's more horrible or simple nonsense- but I fin that's at times the best sense.

Maybe they left a piece to siphon some power and keep whatever brings people to here and fro running. With the scientists in hiding, I can't imagine maintenance being easy for them.
