{Unified Universe Project} [Accidental Voice Post]

[A voice is heard, one that's been heard before.]

I need numbers, dammit! How many did we lose to the Outsiders?

[Professor Anderson speaks.] Numbers don't matter here, sir. What matters is finding a way to prevent this from happening a--

Do I look like I want your opinion? I want numbers, now. And I want the stupid botanist punished. I want everyone who might have talked punished! And let me know when our people start coming back to life.

Two already have. One of them can't stop shaking, though. He got attacked by our own ro--

I. Don't. Care. Get out of my sight. And send me Greg and Matthew. I want to know how this started.

Sir.

[There's the sound of footsteps, and after a few moments the connection clicks off.]

No, that's the voice on the tapes. Why so concerned over someone you talked to for a couple of minutes?

Just because our paths only crossed once, doesn't mean she means less as a person. And it doesn't mean she should be punished for something that wasn't her fault.

Leave her be.

No. You do something wrong, there are consequences.

She already had some of her work destroyed by your guards. I think that's punishment enough.

Besides, I can return the original documents I took from you, no worse for wear, if you leave her alone. They're important for your records, aren't they?

[Voice]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
You'll return them all, intact, not damaged?

How many of the missing ones do you have? I might accept that exchange.
al_truism: (Sigh)

[Voice]

[personal profile] al_truism 2009-06-04 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I will. No damage other than a bent corner here and there, but I can easily fix that up.

Quite a bit of information from the fourth floor, the files on Uchiha Sasuke, information about the original project, and quite a lot of others. Enough to fill a backpack.

I don't have all of them, but I know I have quite a few.

Leave them at the gap in the wall in one hour. The guards will have orders not to shoot you as long as you only approach the wall, set down the backpack, wait for them to go through it, and then leave.

If you stick to that, with no tricks, she'll be off the hook. Try anything, and she'll regret it.

...

I will send the armor, only because I'm unable to leave where I am at the moment. I have no reason to try anything.

I don't appreciate the threats, you know.

I'm in a position of power, I don't really care what you appreciate. I'm sure I'd be treated exactly the same if our positions were reversed.

And this is why the people down here don't trust, like, or respect you, and this is why you're getting absolutely no sympathy, Professor.

I've never used hostages and never will, and the fact that you'd harm one of your own, someone who hasn't hurt anything or put your project in harm's way would be used as a hostage to assure my good behavior doesn't inspire trust or goodwill.

Get your facts right, boy. And then realize I don't give a care about how you feel.

She didn't follow orders. I was going to take action that was supposed to be taken. It had nothing to do with you. You chose to get yourself involved.

By all means, underestimate me. Don't act surprised when the people who work for you start to turn on you. Playing dirty only works if you're actually worth being afraid of.

The papers will be there. Have a nice day, Professor.

I'm going by the contracts they signed. Don't think yourself some savior.

[Voice][Private//Unhackable]

[personal profile] al_truism 2009-06-05 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think their contracts included something like this, you know.

[Voice][Private//Unhackable]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Being here, no, but a breach in contract, yes.

[Voice][Private//Unhackable]

[personal profile] al_truism 2009-06-05 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
And did said contract say anything about fear for bodily harm?

[Voice][Private//Unhackable]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
The confidentiality clause. Yes.

But by the time she was talking, you weren't threatening her anymore. Remember that?
al_truism: (Determination)

[Voice][Private//Unhackable]

[personal profile] al_truism 2009-06-05 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
And... how do you know I wouldn't have hurt her?

[Voice][Private//Unhackable]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't matter what I know. It matters what she thought, and that was pretty obvious.

Are you going to hurt her if I bring these?

[Voice][Private//Unhackable]

[identity profile] adstring-npc.livejournal.com 2009-06-05 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
I told you. Bring them and she'll get out of what she'd agreed to be bound to. She cost us, but now she's benefiting us more.
