{Unified Universe Project} [Text accidentally sent to whole network]

MEMORANDUM

To: All departments, Guards
From: The Chairman
Re: Safety

Greetings.

Cease and desist all video posting this instant. No more mentions of full names will be given. Refer to yourself by rank at all times in case of equipment malfunctions.

Any idiot that forgets this deserves what they’ll get. And if they don’t get it, I’ll give it to them myself.

The memo was received with many different reactions.

In the botany department, Caroline fed pieces of paper slowly to her Disposal Zucchini Vines while looking confused. “I have a rank? What sort of rank? Is it military? I can’t ask him, I’d have to tell him who I was to find out, or do something video, and I’m not allowed to anymore…” A zucchini blossom licked at her hand and she gave it the rest of the trash before wandering back to her PCD. “I don’t get it…”

“Oh SH—“ was the noise that came from the room filled with bugs, and then it cut off. “Um, with all due respect, sir, I didn’t mean to swear over the network in reply to you. My apologies.” Matthew shut off his PCD and shoved it in a drawer before looking over at the mild-smiling Professor Johnson. “Great. I just swore at the Chairman.”

“Almost swore. You stopped yourself. And he’s heard worse from you.” Andrew shrugged. “It’s nothing to worry too much about. If our goals wind up limited, we’ll find another way to accomplish them.”

“But this means the—“

“Yes. Someone with a history related to the Death Note showed up again. Do we have anything more on the one that isn’t L?”

“Greg’s checking into that shit. Sir. I’ve got to finish my caterpillar project.”

“Good, good.”

Donna smirked. “Well. I guess that means we just can’t manage to have a meeting very soon, then. Such a shame, having so many dangerous elements in the city.” She chuckled to herself as she fixed another cup of coffee. “Poor Miss Sandiego and Miss Unohana. I suppose they’ll just have to wait. It must be so hard.”

In utter confusion Bao stared at the screen. “On top of everything else, more questions. Is this a distraction technique aimed at us? Is it supposed to alienate us further? There is no sense to anything anymore. But if we must hide behind ranks and text…” She paused. “It might be time to ask a few more questions.”
